The 5 Secrets of a Put-Together Woman

Everyone knows that one girl that is ALWAYS put together. You know, the girl who looks good even when walking their dog or taking out the trash. Well, I’ve always been that girl ( at least, after the age of 16. After my “ghetto fabulous” echo-red track suits phase, kill me now). I always observed that girl when I wasn’t one and have come to a realization that there are 5 secrets of this well put together woman that you must abide to become one. Ready?

  1. HAIR & NAILS: Whether you haven’t washed your face yet doesn’t matter. Make up? No problem. If your nails are painted, not chipped you automatically come across as a girl who takes care of themselves. Hair doesn’t mean you need to curl or straighten for an hour. Just needs to be “tidy”. As much as I love the top knot or the messy bun, this doesn’t give you the put-together look!** I want to also add eyebrows. Esp. for girls with brows like mine(thick and curly). Get them done regularly, and BROW GEL the shit out of them. No curls or misplaced eyebrow hairs please.
  2. CLEAN LINES: What does that even mean you may ask? Well, iron your effing shirt. No one thinks your put together in your wrinkly ass shirt ! The second part to this is matching top and bottom with lines. So if you’re wearing a huge hoody (I don’t really approve but whatever) at lease wear tighter fitting pants so you don’t look like Barney 🙂 This goes passed clothes as well, round face? don’t wear round sunglasses. Always highlight your best features and cover your worst- we all have both!
  3. TAKE CARE OF YOUR STUFF: I’ve always been impressed with my mother for having perfect shoes and bags. Not what you think, not just nice shoes and bags but SPOTLESS shoes and bags. She legit puts her bags away in their dustbag when shes done and cleans them out everyday ( a habit I’ve thankfully inherited). When your bags and shoes look well taken care of, so do you!
  4. DETAILS: My biggest pet peeve is when girls wear 10 colors of jewelry. Stick to one metal please (unless you have those tricolor rings). If your shoes have gold studs on them, don’t wear a silver top with silver hardware on your bag. It looks mismatched and frumpy.
  5. CONFIDENCE: This is something not taught. No matter what you wear, even if you break all of the rules above, be confident and you will look put together.
